In the cultural history of the nation 100 or 200 years are like a drop in a sea.  In the Indian society, there are some precious gems, whose births and deaths have caused a great revolution.  Among those precious gems, there are same immortal personalities like Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Maharshi Vitthal Ramji Shinde and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Before 50 years, people were not ready to enter in the campus of ‘Ahilyashram’, but today, thousands of students have been learning in Kinder-Garden, Primary-School, Highschools, Technical School, Arts & Commerce College, Vocational Education, D.B.M., Computer Centre; in the same Campus.  Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, Maharshi V. R. Shinde & Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar had a dream of an integrated Indian Society, and our D.C.M. Society has been working for the same purpose.

Many National & International famous personalities have been visited our Institute and approved praised our Goals and works among them was Pop Pias of Vatican.  In 1903 he specially visited India to meet to Founder of this Institution Maharshi Vitthal Ramji Shinde.  The other famous personalities viz. Jagatguru Shankaracharya, Ravindranath Togor, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Pandit  Javaharlal Nehru, Subhashchandra Bosh, Ex President Babu Rajendra Prasad, Justice Mahadeo G. Ranade, Honorary Gopalkrishna Gokhale, Ex. Prime Minister Indira Gnadhi, Babu Jagjivan Ram, Swatyantryavir Savarkar, Karmavir Dadasaheb Gaikwad, Barrister Rajabhau Khobragade, Ex Member of Parliament B.C. Kamble, Sahityik Shankarrao Kharat, N. Shivaraj(Ex. M.P., Ex Prisident of R.P.I.), Dadasaheb Rupwate(Ex. M.P.), Hon. R.S. Gawai (M.P.), Hon. Ramadasji  Athawale, Hon. Namdeo Dhasal, Hon. Jogendra Kawade, Hon. Mohan Dhariya (Ex. Dy. Chairman Indian Planning Commission), Ex. Prime Minister Chandrashekhar, Hon. Fulan Devi (Ex. M. P.) have visited complimented and guided us.

Depressed Classes Mission Society of India was established on 18th October 1906 and the actual function of the Institution was started on 22nd June 1908 under the guidance and leadership of  General  Secretary and the Founder Trusty Maharshi Vitthal Ramji 

Shinde socioeconomic educational and religious of liftment of Dalits in India is the Chief motivation of the Institution. 

The Institution has the following Objectives

  1. Propaganda and spread of education
  2. Vocational Training and provision of support for rearing jobs
  3. Fight against Social in Justice
  4. To Preach Humanism and create moral citizen.

Today Depressed Classes Mission Society of India, Pune at 896, Nana Peth, ‘Ahilyashram’ Campus, Pune-2 has been providing educational facilities to dalits and destitute children’s it was here on this scared land on 15th March 1852 Mahatma Jyotiba Phule started the First School in India for Dalit children’s.  The same memorial School used as Mahatma Phule Library by the college. 

In 1909 Primary school was started by the Institution.  In the same year club of west End India was established.  In 1910 singing and drill class we are started.  In 1911 Institution noted that major mass of India was illiterate so night school for adults was started. 

In 1912 ‘Bhajan Samaj Sunday Class’, ‘Sangeet Sabha’, Debating and Sport club were established for the trodden, especially to enhanced the participation in religious and social works.

In 1914 Shree Shahu Chhatrapati Bal Veer Pathak and Gymkhana was started.  Dr. Khedkar dispensary and Shishu Sangopan centre (Nursery), was started in the same year for the children’s of the labour in the surrounding area.

In 1920 Mahatma Phule night School was started.  In 1921 Technical School and Tailoring were established for Dalits and down prodder with motto that technical education should be available for them.  In the same year Hostel for College Students who were outsiders in Pune was established for the Dalits and Deprive students of provide them to stay in Pune as well as for education.

In 1951 on this scared land of ‘Ahilyashram’ Maharshi Shinde Hostel was started.  In 1952 according to the guidelines given by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule was established.

In 1962-63 Physical training course for the students who passed S.T.C. class as well as matriculation was started in the same year at peshwe Park in sadashiv Peth, Adambaug 

Boys & Girls Highschool as well as hostel was established. In 1963 backward class girls Highschool was established and C.P.D. Institute was started.

Under the guidance and Leadership of Shri.  M.D. Shevale (General Secretary, D.C.M.S. Pune), Shri K.R. Madhale (Chairman, D.C.M.S. Pune), Shri D.T. Rajput (Treasurer, D.C.M.S. Pune) in 1970 for the Provision of Education to the Down prodder and the Dalits area a Mahatma Jyotiba school at Pisoli (Rural area) which near to Pune was established. In 1968 National level Physical training camp was organised and the chairperson of Physical training Institute from all the state attended the Camp.

In 1972 as it was the silver Jubilee of Independence of India a Sport meet of Five thousand youths took place in Delhi and for this occasion 15 Students for the Mallakhamb Team from the School of this Institute were selected and they performed well.

In 1974-75 of National level residing match was organised at Imphal (Manipur State) Shri. Pandit Shinde student of our school was selected for the match by Maharashtra Government established and C.P.D. Institute was started.

Under the guidance and Leadership of Shri.  M.D. Shevale (General Secretary, D.C.M.S. Pune), Shri K.R. Madhale (Chairman, D.C.M.S. Pune), Shri D.T. Rajput (Treasurer, D.C.M.S. Pune) in  1970 Mahatma Gandhi Hostel was established for the students of Rural area specially for Dalits.

In 1982 on occasion of Asiad Games, which took place in Delhi to represent, Maharashtra Lezim Team 34 students and 4 teacher from our society’s school were selected.

            On 1st June 1983 at Amble, Tal. Shirur, Dist. Pune Maharshi Shinde Highschool was established for the students of rural area. 

There was not any College in the Eastern area of Pune City to provide college education in Marathi medium so our institute established Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Commerce and Maharshi V. R. Shinde Art s College, on 15th June 1984 to enable college education for socioeconomic and backward class students and as well as lower percentage students.

In 1984 at Jambut Tal. Shirur, Dist. Pune Jai Malhar Highschool was established in rural area.  In 1991 at Ranmala Tal. Junnar, Dist. Pune Shrimati Indira Gandhi Highschool was established in the tribal area for the provision of education to tribal communities.

In 1990 at Akole Dist. Ahamadnagar were there was no provision of education at least for nearby 25 K.M. in tribal and mountainous region. Our institution started Rajashree Shahu Maharaj School to provide education to tribal communities.

            In 1991 Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Business management and computer studies was  established to provide management education after graduation. In this Institute Diploma in Business management affiliated to Pune University was started.  The student of nearby area should get the Knowledge of Computer operation with this purpose, various Computer Courses has been run by this Institute.

All these developments and establishments of various schools for tribal and rural areas backward and tribal students and also establishments of this college is possible by guidance and leadership of Shri.  M.D. Shevale (General Secretary, D.C.M.S. Pune),  Shri D.T. Rajput (Chairman, D.C.M.S. Pune), Shri V.M. Shevale (Treasurer, D.C.M.S. Pune).
